Child Passenger Safety Technician Certification and Certification Renewal

Below are classes in IL that are currently registered on the Safe Kids website. The registration fee per Safe Kids Worldwide is $95. The length of the class and additional fees vary per class. The date of the class listed is the start date:

  • January 17, 2022, in Rochester
  • February 22, 2022, in Harwood Heights
  • April 5, 2022, in Chicago
  • June 14, 2022, in Chicago
  • September 20, 2022, in Chicago

Child Passenger Safety Technician Certification Renewal Classes

Nationally Certified Child Passenger Safety (CPS) Technicians, whose certifications have expired, are eligible to take the one-day Certification Renewal Testing Course. The course is not an update/refresher class. It is for expired CPS technicians who have maintained their child passenger safety knowledge and their hands-on skills but who, for one reason or another, allowed their certifications to expire. The fee is $95. Class start dates are:

  • January 6, 2022, in Rochester                 
  • March 4, 2022, in Chicago
  • April 26, 2022 in Peru 
  • May 6, 2022, in Chicago
  • July 1, 2022 in Chicago

FRA’s 4-hr Virtual Railroad Trespass Prevention Summit for Northeast Illinois

The FRA, Cook County, and Metra will host a 4-hour webinar on October 27, 2021. The virtual event will raise awareness of the dangers and effects of trespassing, to seek out low-cost solutions to local trespassing issues, and discuss practicable ideas for technological improvements for pedestrian safety at highway-rail grade crossings. Available funding, which includes grants for law enforcement officers, will also be announced.
