ILACP to host Violence Solutions Summit focusing on nontraditional partnerships

March 9, 2022

The Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police will be hosting a “Violence Solutions Summit" on Saturday, March 12th from 10am to 2pm at South Suburban College in the Kindig Performing Arts Center located at 15800 State St., South Holland, IL 60473.

Art Norman from NBC 5 Chicago will be our moderator for the event. This summit is not about pointing fingers or placing blame. This summit is focused on bringing together non-traditional partnership to utilize our respective knowledge, experiences, and resources to collectively generate workable solutions to address gun violence in our communities. The goal for this event is to generate collaborative community-based action items to help reduce the violence and killings that are touching all communities.

Essential for productive results in our efforts is the inclusion of the 'boots on ground' violence interrupters that work day-in and day-out to save lives in our communities. Another crucial component to this formula is input from the young people who have been victims and even those that have navigated the waters of community violence. We need to hear their realities and recommendations.

While the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police is the coordinating entity, we will have Attorney General Kwame Raoul, the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE), the National Council of 100 Black Women, Activist Andrew Holmes, State Representative Justin Slaughter, Purpose Over Pain, the NAACP, Stop the Violence Street Outreach Organization, Unity Partners, Elected Officials, and many others in attendance.

This is the itinerary for the Violence Solutions Summit:

  • Registration: 9:30am
  • Opening Panel: 10:00am to 11:15am
  • Breakout Sessions: 11:30am to 12:45pm
  • Solutions Panel: 1:00pm to 2:00pm
The event is not open to the general public, but the press is invited to attend. You may contact me at [email protected] with any questions.
