Police Chief Certification Program

Certification Opportunity for Members & Non-Members

The primary goal of the ILACP Voluntary Police Chief Certification Program is to contribute substantially to enhancing police chief professionalism in the State of Illinois. The certification and re-certification process will allow for continuous professional growth and educational development. The program offers an opportunity for candidates to demonstrate a higher level of competence in their profession. We will strive for continuous improvement, so your input and suggestions are welcome. Confidentiality will be maintained throughout the process.

All police chiefs, deputy chief, commanders, or equivalent with at least ten years of full-time law enforcement experience may participate in the program. Any rank below commander needs an official written endorsement from the chief executive officer of the applicant’s agency to participate. Certification fees are reduced for ILACP members.  If you have any questions about eligibility, please reach out to Carmen Elliott at [email protected] or call 217-523-3765.
